Dean Cain has hit back at John Oliver after the presenter ridiculed his decision to join ICE

The Lois + Clark: The New Adventures of Superman actor revealed last week he had signed up to work for US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) amid the federal agency's recruitment drive in order to support US President Donald Trump's scheme to boost immigration raids and Sunday's (10.08.25) episode of Last Week Tonight saw the host unable to resist mocking Dean

John said: "You know, there's an old saying in Hollywood, 'If all you can get is Dean Cain, you are f*****.

"Now, I'm not saying that ICE isn't finding people. I'm just saying, when you are reduced to pinning a badge on the 59-year-old star of The Dog Who Saved Christmas, The Dog Who Saved Christmas Vacation, The Dog Who Saved the Holidays, The Dog Who Saved Halloween, The Dog Who Saved Easter, and The Dog Who Saved Summer, maybe you are in trouble."

However, John joked there was one positive about Dean's new job.

He quipped: "No need for that guy to wear a mask because the chances of anyone recognizing him are f****** zero."

And towards the end of the episode, John advised the audience on how to respond if approached by ICE agents.

He said: "Attorneys told us the only two things you should say to them are, 'Am I free to leave?' And 'I want to speak to a lawyer.' That's it. You have the right to remain silent.

"And I recognise that in some cases you may be unable to help yourself from saying, 'Didn't you used to be Superman? I thought you died.' ... But that really is it."

Within hours of the episode airing, Dean reshared a clip and hit back at John.

He wrote on X: "He stole that mask joke from the internet.

"And he also laughed hysterically when Trump said he was going to run for President. Case closed.

"Those movies were sweet, by the way!"

Meanwhile, after sharing one of his ICE recruitment videos on X, a follower appealed for South Park to parody Dean's new career move - which the actor was on board with.

He responded: "That would be awesome. @SouthPark is amazing."
