Jessica Simpson says her ideal date night outfit would involve a "leopard-print dress"

The 45-year-old singer and fashionista - who launched her own fashion brand the Jessica Simpson Collection two decades ago - has opened up on her own style and which items she'd pull from her anniversary range for a romantic evening.

Speaking to PEOPLE magazine, she quipped: "Well, hopefully things will be pulled off. Just kidding!

"A leopard-print dress, definitely heels, the Aaminas [strappy platform sandals]. I just called to get them in red."

When it comes to leopard print, Jessica joked it feels like her own version of "beige" which was inspired by her grandmother.

She said: "To me, leopard is neutral. It's my beige.

"My nana, my mom's mom, always had some form of leopard, a scarf or tortoise jewelry. I just loved it.

"There's even a Jessica Simpson suitcase in leopard. And I even have furniture that's leopard."

Meanwhile, she is proud to see her fashion brand still going strong, particularly after she and her mother Tina Timpson regained ownership from its parent company.

She asid: "Some people didn't think it would stand the test of time. But I feel like everybody's always thought that of me. One hit wonder..."

In 2015, Sequential Brands bought a major stake in the business before filing for bankruptcy in August 2021.

Before the parent company imploded financially, Jessica and Tina stepped in to save the brand, which included the singer putting her $11.5million mansion up as collateral.

Speaking to Bustle in 2023, Jessica said: "[Sequential was] headed to bankruptcy. I wanted to make sure we did not get caught up in all that.

Tina - who divorced Jessica's dad Joe in April 2013 - added: "Honestly, she did reach out to me to borrow money. And I said to her, 'Yeah, let's talk about it.'

"In buying the brand back, I told her, if you're sure you want to do this, you're just going to have to tighten up your belt a little bit.

"You're going to have to not live not quite as extravagantly."
