Finn Wolfhard credits Joe Keery as a "huge influence" on his passion for music

The Stranger Things actor - who spent two years in indie rock band Calpurnia before forming The Aubreys in 2020 - has revealed the influence his Netflix co-star had on him discovering new bands and sounds.

He told The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon: "Joe is a huge influence for me, and still is. His band's amazing. He was one of the first people I ever knew that was actually in a band.

"Before Stranger Things came out, he was kind of a cool, older brother. I was 12 and he was 22?

"He was like fresh out of being in a really cool psych rock band in Chicago, and introduced me to a ton of music that I think really informed everything.

"I wouldn't be here without Joe."

Joe was a founding member of Post Animal, before leaving in 2018 due to his acting commitments, although he has since released three solo albums as Djo, including his Grammy nominated third LP The Crux earlier this year.

Finn previously admitted he once suffered a panic attack on the set of Stranger Things as he struggled to cope with the pressures of fame during his younger years, and he got overwhelmed during filming for the fourth season.

He told Time magazine: "It was incredible and subconsciously terrifying to be 13 and all of the sudden everyone knows who you are.

"I was having normal first-relationship struggles and juggling COVID and the show. Halfway through a scene I started hyperventilating. It was kind of like a fishbowl because a lot of the extras are fans. It culminated in sort of a panic attack."

Finn has also noted that he's grown up alongside some of his co-stars, and the actor hopes fans love the fifth and final season of Stranger Things.

The TV star wrote on Instagram: "I feel like we're still those people and I'm lucky to still stand beside them today. I hope you'll love this season as much as I do."
