A West Auckland dairy owner targeted by robbers says his son froze as an axe-wielding teen demanded cash

Police were called to the store on Sunnyvale's View Road about 7.40 Monday evening.

Dairy Owner Chetan Patel has told our newsroom three people burst into the superette wearing masks and hoods.

He says the eldest appeared about 15 and brandished a three-foot axe and demanded money - as others filled bags with chips and drinks.

Patel says another another staffer rushed in telling his son to run.
