Police says the fact two officers went to court shows Police hold themselves to account

Police says the fact two officers went to court shows Police hold themselves to account

The IPCA has released reports finding former Inspector Hurimoana Dennis unlawfully detained a teen ... and improperly influenced a criminal investigation into his own son in 2014.

Dennis, and Sergeant Vaughan Perry were acquitted on kidnapping charges for detaining the teen to force him to comply with his family's wishes.

Police say Perry is working on full duties - and Dennis has retired.

They say Dennis retired before an employment investigation could be completed into the other misconduct.

But Acting Deputy commissioner Andy Coster says the misconduct identified in the report goes against everything they stand for.
