    Philippine police have been told not to hurt people caught outside their homes in violation of month-long lockdown restrictions aimed at preventing the spread of coronavirus


    There've been reports some officers and soldiers were hitting people with sticks or batons to force them back to their homes.

    Interior Secretary Eduardo Ano says those responsible for abuse and maltreatment will be punished.

    There have been just over 800 Covid-19 cases in the Philippines.
