The lockdown is fuelling noise complaints in Christchurch

The lockdown is fuelling noise complaints in Christchurch

The city council has received 188 complaints - including 159 after hours - over the past week- most relating to loud music.

Head of Regulatory Compliance Tracey Weston says while the number of noise complaints dropped over the weekend - there's been a marked increase since Monday.

She's urging keen DIYers and those using their stereos to consider their neighbours - who may be working from home - or caring for young children, or the elderly

The council says if noise complaints can't be dealt with over the phone - Armourguard will visit the property.
