The British socialite and ex-girlfriend of the late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein is due to appear at a bail hearing shortly

The British socialite and ex-girlfriend of the late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein is due to appear at a bail hearing shortly

Ghislaine Maxwell is due to appear via video link, from a detention centre in Brooklyn, New York.

Maxwell was arrested two weeks ago, charged with allegedly helping Epstein groom girls as young as 14.

She denies the charges against her, but could face up to 35 years in prison if convicted.

Her lawyers want her bailed, saying there's a big risk she'll catch coronavirus while in jail.

Epstein died in prison a year ago, while awaiting trial on sex trafficking charges.
