The Council of Licenced Firearms Owners has launched a complaint against Police over firearm rules

It's lodged the complaint with Parliament's Regulations Review Committee over the conduct of Police in assembling new regulations governing firearm clubs and ranges.

Spokesperson Hugh Devereux-Mack says they've overstepped their regulatory powers, and haven't complied with the notice and consultation requirements.

He says they want police to revisit the regulations they've set on clubs and ranges, to make sure they're focussing on safety - rather than creating unnecessary paperwork.
