Diabetes New Zealand says years of advocacy have finally been successful

Diabetes New Zealand says years of advocacy have finally been successful

Pharmac's set to fund continuous glucose monitors, insulin pumps and insulin consumables for people living with Type 1 diabetes - from October.

The monitors are small wearable devices that monitor glucose levels automatically, reducing the need for finger prick checks.

Chief Executive Heather Verry says this will be life-changing.

She says there will be parents who will finally get a good night's sleep, without needing to get up to manually check their child's blood sugar.
