Justin Theroux doesn't live in Los Angeles because he wants to avoid constant reminders of the movie industry

The 53-year-old actor explained that he much prefers to be in New York and away from the glare of Hollywood when he's not filming as it gives him the "space" to meet people in other professions

In an interview with People magazine, Justin said: "When you're in the business, it's really nice when you're not (filming) something actively, to not be in the business.

"That's why I don't live in Los Angeles, because you're constantly just reminded you're in the business.

"In New York you have the space to meet people that do something else. You can meet painters, dancers, writers and investment bankers or whatever. I feel like I have a fuller life in New York."

Justin features as Rory in the new movie 'Beetlejuice Beetlejuice' - Tim Burton's long-awaited sequel to the 1988 film 'Beetlejuice' - and described how he and co-star Winona Ryder were pleased to "goth it up" when it came to their character's outfits.

He recalled: "To step onto set and see Winona in her black petticoat dress and her black, sharp bangs and her smoky eye, it was just so fun.

"I think both Winona and I were so excited for our wardrobe. It was really fun to kind of goth it up a little bit, put a little eyeliner on and play these characters."

The 'Zoolander' actor also likened starring in the movie to being granted access to Burton's mind.

Justin said: "It feels like you sort of opened up the front of Tim Burton's head and got pure access to whatever his creative geniuses and impulses are.

"The sets were monstrous and wonderful, so the imagination part of the world itself is sort of done for you. At that point, your only job is to make Tim laugh."
