Sir Ben Ainslie is citing history as motivation for his Ineos Britannia team trying to wrestle the America's Cup off Team New Zealand

Racing for the Auld Mug starts overnight off the Barcelona coast, as the best-of-13 Cup match begins.

No British team have ever lifted the trophy since the first crew contested it in 1851 off the Isle of Wight... Ainslie simply cited that fact when questioned on what drives them.

Team New Zealand can also make history... no syndicate has won the America's Cup three times in a row, and a win in the series ahead would see Peter Burling and co achieve that feat.
