More people are selling their homes at a loss

More people are selling their homes at a loss

Latest figures from Core Logic show the proportion of loss-making re-sales has climbed to 9.8-percent, the highest level since mid-2015.

Buyers have the upper hand, with higher listing volumes and falling house prices.

Chief Property Economist Kelvin Davidson says whether people sold for a loss or profit depends on when they bought.

He says people who bought eight or nine years ago are still likely to make a profit, but people who bought in the last two to three years are likely to make a loss.
