A view New Zealand has to weigh up its options, with regards to gas shortages.

A view New Zealand has to weigh up its options, with regards to gas shortages.

A Gas Industry Company-commissioned report, forecasts on the current trajectory, gas supply won't meet demand in the next decade.

It finds the factors leading to energy issues this winter will worsen, without imported fuel or a domestic gas discovery.

Chief Executive Andrew Knight says there's a lot to consider, as the country transitions to renewable energy.

He says it's about recognising the trade-offs between energy security, emissions and consumer outcomes.
