Kristin Davis is set to host a new 'Sex and the City' podcast for iHeartRadio called 'Are You a Charlotte?'

The 59-year-old actress first portrayed Charlotte York Goldenblatt on the HBO series in 1998, and after the show ended in 2004, she starred in the two spin-off films, 2008's 'Sex and the City' and 2010's 'Sex and the City 2', before she reprised her role for the revival series 'And Just Like That...' in 2021

The title of the new podcast is inspired by getting asked 'Are you a Charlotte'.

She told People: "This is probably old news to you.

"No one's asked me 'Are you a Charlotte?' in a long time. It used to be the main question that people would ask me in interviews. I think everyone just assumes that I am at this point."

Kristin explained that she sees herself as a mix of her character and protagonist Carrie Bradshaw (Sarah Jessica Parker).

She said: "I mean, I would say I'm a Charlotte with some Carrie mixed in. I'm probably more of a free spirit than Charlotte, in terms of my priorities in life.

"One of her main focuses has always been getting married, which has not been one of my focuses. Of course, it's hard to be objective."

Kristin insists she is "cool" with being recognised as Charlotte on the streets.

She said: "I really cannot go to Magnolia Bakery and expect to not be recognised, and I'm cool with that."

The original series followed Carrie and her friends, Charlotte, Samantha Jones (Kim Cattrall) and Miranda Hobbes (Cynthia Nixon).

Although she made a cameo in the second series of 'And Just Like That...', Samantha is not expected to return for the upcoming third season.

The show has drawn in a whole new generation of fans, including rapper Megan Thee Stallion, who shared how much she relates to Charlotte on 'The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon'.

Kristin reacted: "It still shows up on my feed all the time! It is the most amazing thing."

The podcast will see Kristin discuss the many themes of the show, including sex and relationships, fashion, and aim to answer the all-important question of "Can women have sex like men?"

Kristin said: "There have been numerous people who have asked me over the years to do different versions of a podcast relating to the show.

But this time it felt right because our goal is to revisit the themes that the show brought up, that are still so relevant today."

Some of the show's themes were seen as taboo in their day, but that's not the case today, and Charlotte will be discussing the "evolution" of societal norms.

Kristin said: "We're definitely at a different place culturally, in terms of how we think about relationships and talk about relationships and sex. But I feel like a lot of the things that the show brought up originally, which were so kind of scandalous and shocking at the time now are very commonly discussed. And so I love that kind of evolution and I love being able to use the show as a jumping off point into those discussions. What does it all mean now? As I walk around in life, obviously a lot of people talk to me about the show and some people are just seeing it, young people, and then some people have such deep connections and tears are shed with me when they see me."

'Are you a Charlotte?' premieres on iHeartRadio on January 13.
