The public is being warned not to play judge or jury in the case of police officer Lyn Fleming's death

The public is being warned not to play judge or jury in the case of police officer Lyn Fleming's death

The man accused of killing her in Nelson on New Year's Day has made his first appearance in court and was remanded in custody without plea.

He will make his next court appearance on Feburary 14th.

Reporter Katrina Bennett says prosecution and defence lawyers agreed that some online bloggers were publishing information which could put the suspect's fair trial rights at risk.

She says they urged the public to be careful about their comments, especially on social media.
