    Regional trends are emerging, when it comes to the names parents are choosing for their children


    Latest figures from the Department of Internal Affairs show Noah was the most popular boys' name in New Zealand last year, while Isla was the most popular girls' name.

    Jack was the most popular boys' name in the South Island, topping the list in Canterbury, Otago, and Southland.

    Noah, however, led in the North Island, including Auckland, Waikato, Taranaki, and Northland.

    For girls' names, Charlotte, Isla , Amelia, Lily, Harper, Aria, and Ella all topped the list in different regions.
