When is the Super Bowl? Here's where you can watch the game from Australia

The Philadelphia Eagles will play the Kansas City Chiefs — who are aiming for a three-peat — at the Super Bowl down in New Orleans.

It's almost time for delicious appetisers, hilarious commercials, a killer half-time show performance, a possible Taylor Swift sighting, and two teams facing off for the national title.

We're talking about the NFL Super Bowl.

Here's what you need to know about when the game will start, how to watch, and who you'll see on stage at half-time.

    When is the Super Bowl?

It'll be held on Sunday in the US.

Because of the time difference, that's Monday morning in Australia.

    What time does it start?

It starts at 5:30pm in Louisiana.

Here's what time that'll be in Australia, depending on which state you're in:

    • 10:30am AEDT: ACT, New South Wales, Tasmania, Victoria
    • 10am ACDT: South Australia
    • 9:30am AEST: Queensland
    • 9am ACST: Northern Territory
    • 7:30am AWST: Western Australia

How to watch the Super Bowl in Australia?

It will be broadcast on free-to-air TV on Channel 7 and 7mate, and as well as its online streaming platform 7plus.

It's also on KAYO and Foxtel's ESPN channel.

ABC Sport will provide a live blog of Super Bowl LIX from 9am AEDT.

Based on previous years, streaming services lag about 40 seconds behind what's on the field. Compare that to cable, satellite or antenna TV, where there's usually a transmission delay of about 5 seconds.

    Who is playing?

The Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles.

It will be a rematch of the 2023 Super Bowl, which Kansas City won 38-35.

The Kansas City also won last year's Super Bowl against the San Francisco 49ers.

The Chiefs are aiming to become the first team to win three straight Super Bowls.

Where is the Super Bowl being played?

The 59th Super Bowl is being held at Louisiana's Superdome, in the US state of New Orleans.

The stadium is fully enclosed and air-conditioned, with a seating capacity of 83,000.

It's the eighth time that the Superdome has hosted the Super Bowl, the most of any NFL stadium.

Who is playing the half-time show?

    Kendrick Lamar.

"Rap music is still the most impactful genre to date," Lamar said in a recent statement.

"And I'll be there to remind the world why. They got the right one."

He is best known for his songs Not Like Us, Humble, m.A.A.d city, Swimming Pools and Money Trees.

The Grammy Award-winning rapper will be joined by special guest SZA.

He's also not new to this particular game either, having co-headlined the 2022 Super Bowl alongside Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminiem, 50 Cent and Mary J. Blige.

It's well known that the 12 to 15 minute musical extravaganza is one of the most coveted slots on the US music calendar.

What time is the half-time show?

Depending on which state you're in, it might line up with your lunch break:

    • 12pm AEDT: ACT, New South Wales, Tasmania, Victoria
    • 11:30am ADCT: South Australia
    • 11am AEST: Queensland
    • 11:30am ACST: Northern Territory
    • 9am AWST: Western Australia

Will Taylor Swift be there again?

    Fans hope so.

Swift likes to support her partner Travis Kelce as much as she can by attending his games.

She most recently watched Kelce and the rest of the Chiefs beat the Buffalo Bills for a spot in their third consecutive Super Bowl.

As confetti rained down on the field afterward, Swift and Kelce kissed in celebration.

And now that the Eras Tour has officially wrapped, there are no conflicting schedules that would stop her from attending this year's Super Bowl.

Last year, Swift came straight from the Tokyo run of her Eras Tour. There was speculation whether or not she would make the game, but through the power of a private jet, she arrived in Las Vegas on time.
