Kiwi Liam Lawson is 15th after the halfway mark of the season opening Formula 1 Grand Prix in Melbourne

Lawson started in the pits but has worked his way up after three withdrawals including a spin-off from Isaac Hadjar in his Racing Bulls car on the opening lap.

Aussie Jack Doohan and Carlos Sainz also crashed early to withdraw, meaning a long time under the safety car.

Lando Norris continues to lead after starting on pole.
