    Wait until the dust settles

    Wait until the dust settles

That's the message from Foreign Minister Winston Peters, as American President Donald Trump's tariffs spark uncertainty across the world.

The Minister yesterday suggested Prime Minister Chris Luxon was premature in joining global talks calling for free trade, in opposition to the tariff rollout.

Speaking in Tonga, Peters says we are not in a fight for trade.

He says we don't know where the tariffs are going, but we should find out before we make further comment.
