Young Aucklanders are making moves to the South Island

Young Aucklanders are making moves to the South Island

The latest Stats NZ figures show around 40-thousand Aucklanders moved to the Canterbury region between 2018 and 2023.

Of those, more than 40-percent were 15 to 24 year olds.

Christchurch NZ Chief Executive Ali Adams says its an exciting prospect.

She says it means people are going to Christchurch to study, and will eventually start businesses or join the local workforce, ultimately boosting the economy.
