Consumer confidence remains soggy - across the country

Consumer confidence remains soggy - across the country

Westpac McDermott Miller's June quarter Index - shows a lift of two points, to a level of 91.2.

Anything below 100 indicates households views are more pessimistic - than optimistic.

Senior Economist, Satish Ranchhod says feelings differ depending on the region.

He says areas with strong rural backbones, like the lower South Island - are more upbeat, but confidence is still low in Wellington.
