People hoping to get their hands on cheaper butter, via fundraisers, may have to wait a little longer

Westland Milk Products has confirmed demand for Westgold Butter has impacted supply for its Butter for Better programme.

The programme involves groups selling 250 gram butter blocks for $5.15 - with a dollar from every block going towards their fundraising goal.

Some schools have sold tens of thousands of blocks.

Christchurch's Chisnallwood Intermediate says the company advised them it had oversold the product, forcing it to push back it's fundraiser by three months, to October.
