Farmers are urging officials to make a strong case for trade, with the US market

US President Donald Trump revealed on Friday, a surprise 15-percent tariff on New Zealand goods.

Trade negotiator Vangelis Vitalis is heading stateside to meet with the adminstration - with Trade Minister Todd McClay, following suit in coming weeks.

Beef and Lamb NZ chair Kate Acland, says she hopes the Government can restore fair access for red meat exports.

She says New Zealand prides itself on its rules-based trade - and that's something we need to advocate for.
