    Practising in the event of another large earthquake in Manawatu-Whanganui



    Civil Defence personnel are taking part in a full-day exercise today, simulating what would happen after a magnitude 7.7 earthquake on the northern Wellington and Mohaka faults.

    Emergency Operations Centres have been activated in Horowhenua, Manawatu, Tararua and Palmerston North for the exercise.

    Locals are advised not to panic should they notice emergency services in full swing.
