    The 148-kilometre third stage of cycling's Tour of Southland has started from Riverton to Te Anau


    The start had a 10-minute delay due to a snapped chain in the peloton.

    No-one has broken away as yet along the base of the South Island.

    Local Tom Sexton wears the leader's orange jersey.

    The first half of the leg is relatively flat.
