High Performance Sport New Zealand's opted for a status quo $1.8 million annual investment in Equestrian Sports New Zealand next year, despite the sport having a mixed 12 months

On one hand, individual athletes secured three of the six four-star events through Jonelle Price at Badminton and Luhmuhlen, and Tim Price at Burghley.

On the other, the Kiwi team finished a disappointing seventh at the World Equestrian Games, despite the result qualifying them for the Tokyo Olympics.

HPSNZ chief executive Michael Scott says the pinnacle event result came first, but the returns in Europe were first-class.

Canoe Racing New Zealand have been elevated to a tier one sport and get a boost of $150,000 because it's the sixth consecutive year they've won multiple medals at their pinnacle event.
