The Reserve Bank's deputy governor says reintroducing Loan to Value Ratio rules is no silver bullet for house prices

From March, owner occupiers will need a 20 per cent deposit, but investors will need a 30 per cent deposit - rising to 40 per cent from May.

Reserve Bank Deputy Governor Geoff Bascand says we'll need more policy measures, changes and building activity .... to have a more enduring impact.

But he says it will help - and contribute to moderating prices in the short term.
