    Shane van Gisbergen has slumped to 27th after a penalty was dished out for cutting the course in the final lap of overtime in the latest NASCAR Xfinity race in Texas


    The kiwi driver crossed the line second after a dramatic restart for the second period of overtime laps, when was nudged out of the lead at the first corner.

    Speaking before he was awarded the time penalty, van Gisbergen was pleased with his showing .



    He backs up tomorrow in the NASCAR series proper.

    Meanwhile, Nick Percat has won the final Supercars race of the weekend at the Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne.
