Christchurch's St Bede's College is working openly with police, following the arrest of a former staff member on historical abuse charges

Christchurch's St Bede's College is working openly with police, following the arrest of a former staff member on historical abuse charges

The man has been charged with offending against three students who boarded at the Catholic school two decades ago.

He's due in court next month.

Current St Bede's Rector Jon McDowall says any form of abuse is not acceptable and has no place at the college.

He says they're committed to supporting St Bede's men of the past and providing a safe environment for our current and future students.

Police are investigating whether there is any further offending, yet to be reported.
