Microsoft's pledging to train 100-thousand New Zealanders in AI over the next two years

Microsoft's pledging to train 100-thousand New Zealanders in AI over the next two years

The tech giant's today opening its first "hyperscale" data centre in Auckland's Westgate - it'll power cloud-based software and AI tools.

It will enable local organisations' data to be stored, processed and backed up locally.

Managing Director Vanessa Sorensen says they're hopeful the centre and their training will increase the number of high paying jobs.

She says an International Data Corporation report said cloud adoption was going to create 23.9-billion in revenue here, which is about six-percent of GDP.
