Haka, karakia, and heartfelt speeches as Dame Tariana Turia's tangi is in its second day

Haka, karakia, and heartfelt speeches as Dame Tariana Turia's tangi is in its second day

Te Pati Maori MPs paid respects to Turia at the tangihanga in Whanganui yesterday.

The long-serving Member of Parliament first joined as a Labour MP, then split from the party in 2004 over the foreshore and seabed controversy - leading to Te Pati Maori's formation.

The tangi's being visited by MPs, iwi leaders, political staffers, and whanau.
