LA fires: Five dead in wildfires as firefighters battle blaze in Pacific Palisades — as it happened

Uncontrolled wildfires across Southern California have destroyed at least 1,000 homes, with celebrities among those forced to evacuate — as it happened.

Wildfires in Los Angeles have now destroyed at least 1,000 buildings and killed five people, according to authorities.

Strong winds are continuing to fuel the blazes and there are evacuation orders for more than 100,000 residents.
