An Auckland bus driver's accused -- of fatally assaulting a passenger

An Auckland bus driver's accused -- of fatally assaulting a passenger

The victim -- in his 60's -- died with head wounds in Auckland City Hospital on Wednesday night - following Sunday afternoon's attack at a Papatoetoe bus stop

A 34-year-old man appeared in Manukau District Court yesterday -- charged with assault.

Auckland Transport's -- Stacey van der Putten -- says they've been in contact with their bus operator Go Bus -- and can confirm a bus driver's been stood down following the incident.

Police say the men have had previous interactions -- and aren't treating it as a random attack.

They say they're not ruling out laying further charges.
