Warnings cocaine being sold in Dunedin could contain a potentially fatal anaesthetic

Warnings cocaine being sold in Dunedin could contain a potentially fatal anaesthetic

High Alert Drug Information and Alerts says tetracaine has been detected in white powder samples being sold as cocaine.

Smaller doses can cause ringing in the ears, blurry vision, dizziness and affect the heart rate.

High doses can cause seizures and potentially-fatal irregular heartbeats.
