Three schools in Auckland's Flat Bush are in lockdown after a police officer was shot this morning - but reportedly has non-life threatening injuries

Sancta Maria College, Sancta Maria Catholic Primary, and Baverstock Oaks Primary have locked down.

Officers say a firearm was used against them as they conducted enquiries at a Chapel Road property at 9.30am.

Construction workers have told the Herald they were evacuated, with a police stand off ongoing.

A cordon's up between Baverstock and Stancombe roads.
