Wellington Water are still urging people to avoid the water along the capital's south coast - despite remediation works running smoothly

It says efforts to discharge waste through the city's long outfall pipe have been successful - following Wednesday's sewerage leak at the Moa Point plant.

The entity's warning of a noticeable odour as works continue - with a rahui still in place from Owhiro Bay to Breaker Bay

Wellington Water Chair Nick Leggett says it'll likely take months for the treatment facility to be fully-operational again.
