Selwyn continues to lead New Zealand in economic growth, resilience and confidence

As the fastest growing population - the Canterbury district's outperforming national trends, including GDP rising 1.5 percent while the national economy contracted by 0.5.

Employment rates rose 3.2 percent - compared to a national decline of 1.4 percent.

Mayor Lydia Gliddon says although they're in a strong position - there's work to do to plan Selwyn's future.

She says they're focused on balancing growth with affordability to ensure these economic strengths are felt across communities.
