Victim Support wants more warnings about when legally insane offenders, are out in the community

Victim Support wants more warnings about when legally insane offenders, are out in the community

The group has appeared before the Justice and Electoral Select Committee, calling for an expansion to the Rights for Victims of Insane Offenders Bill.

Victim Support spokesperson Dr Petrina Hargrave says victims are living in fear ...

She says that's because they only have the right to know when the offender is first on unescorted leave - and not any other times.

Hargrave says part of offenders' rehab is reintroducing them to the community - but it means the victims are often unaware they're out.
