Schools are at their wits' end after decades of cut backs to relief funding for unruly children

Schools are at their wits' end after decades of cut backs to relief funding for unruly children

Te Tai Tokerau Principals Association is crying out for support to employ teacher aides.

President Pat Newman says they can supervise and offer therapy for special needs and violent kids.

But he says they only get funding for one hour of support a day.

He says giving a highly violent child one hour isn't satisfactory, and leaves you with no help for the other five hours.
