Wellington Water plans to put 40 school leavers or young unemployed people through a Fulton Hogan training programme

Wellington Water plans to put 40 school leavers or young unemployed people through a Fulton Hogan training programme

The Infrastructure Skills Centre is running the course in Christchurch.

But Wellington Water has a massive frontline staff shortage, just as councils plan to invest millions into water infrastructure.

Fulton Hogan NZ Chief Executive Graeme Johnson says the programme could set them up for a lifetime career in infrastructure

He says it underlines the value of intensive practical and theory-based training.
