The crash has prompted a call for more effort to go into keeping teenagers safe on the roads

Road Safety Education programme manager Maria Lovelock says young male drivers aged between 15 and 19 are a high-risk group.

She says they're eight times more likely to crash than men in the lowest risk group...55 to 59 year-olds.

Lovelock says young drivers often think they're bulletproof, and more conversations need to be had about risk-taking.
