    New assessments back the building of a new airfield in a small Central Otago town


    The plans by Christchurch Airport for a tarmac at Tarras have sparked opposition from climate activists.

    An assessment released today states the site is able to support an airfield with a single 2.2 kilometre long runway..

    Project director Michael Singleton says more detailed analysis is needed.
