The Crown says Peter Ellis wouldn't have been found guilty - if there was a problem with the evidence against him

Ellis was convicted in 1993 of child sex offences at the Christchurch Civic Creche.
He died in 2019, but his appeal was allowed to continue in the Supreme Court, starting today.
His lawyers say their case focuses on the reliability of child witnesses, and whether the trial was fair.
Crown lawyer QC John Billington says the guilty verdict 28 years ago shows the evidence was reliable.
He says jurors were told not to convict if there was any doubt over the evidence.
