A slow recovery is underway for the hotel sector

The latest Colliers hotel market snapshot has occupancy rates up in Rotorua, Wellington, Christchurch and Queenstown for the year ending in March, compared with the 12 months before.
Auckland saw a 10.6 percent increase in average daily room rates.
Colliers national hotels director Dean Humphries says they're expecting things to pick up even more in the second half of this year, when international borders are fully open.
He says recovery for most of New Zealand will probably be delayed until summer, but there'll be strong demand in winter for places like Queenstown.
