A single pilot in the cockpit is a risk not worth taking

A single pilot in the cockpit is a risk not worth taking

That's from the Air Line Pilots' Association after international suggestions passenger aircraft could soon be flying with just one pilot.

President Andrew Ridling says currently one pilot is designated to fly the aircraft, while the second looks after the onboard systems when something goes wrong.

He says the biggest risk with reducing that to one...is incapacitation.

Ridling says the question is what happens if that pilots suffers a medical event, or falls asleep, or there's an incident they can't handle.
