The medical ward is slowly emptying at the Crusaders

The Super Rugby defending champions had 17 players unavailable earlier this month but got a handful back from injury prior to their bye week.

Assistant coach James Marshall's confirmed Sam Whitelock will return from a broken hand and there's encouraging news about All Blacks Will Jordan and Cullen Grace.

Ethan Blackadder remains a few weeks away from overcoming a calf injury.

The Crusaders face the Rebels in Melbourne on Friday.
