    Praise for a North Canterbury police officer, who helped an elderly scam victim


    A 93-year-old nearly lost his life savings to a scheme pretending to seek input - to help catch scammers.

    The man's son has publicised the compassion of Constable Jeff Power, saying he's one of those officers who really care for people.

    Power says he felt sorry for him - he personally took the man from Amberley to Rangiora's ANZ - to ask for help.

    ANZ has accepted its customer communications could have been better, and is urgently working on the issue.
