    Christchurch city councillors are standing their ground in a dispute over council staff powers


    A new cycle-way was constructed on Park Terrace, under a temporary traffic management plan.

    A group of councillors is now calling for the changes to be removed, while also filing a notice of motion looking into how the work was given the go ahead.

    Councillor Sam MacDonald says the notice looks to take away some of the control from council staff.

    He says it's about tidying the process up, so staff are clear on what they can do, and what they need to come to the elected council for approval for.

    MacDonald says councillors should be the ones making decisions on anything controversial.
