A Northland man has been found guilty of murdering his girlfriend in a retrial

A Northland man has been found guilty of murdering his girlfriend in a retrial

Open Justice reports 60 year old Samuel Pou beat Bridget Simmonds to death before burying her on his own property.

Her death followed multiple domestic violence incidents over the course of their relationship.

Pou's defence team argued he did not intend to kill her, but a jury of seven men and four women ruled against him.

He will be sentenced in the Whangarei High Court early next month.
